In either case, we will be discussing the scandal with or without them.
Membership Forms and Dues
There will be a PSC meeting tomorrow, September 16th at 7:00pm in Greg 113. My apologies to those of you who were looking forward to meeting and chatting with our new Trustee Chris Kennedy this Wednesday. We have made contact with Mr. Kennedy and he has expressed interest in coming to talk with us, however he is regrettably unavailable this week. We are going to try and schedule him for our next meeting. So those of you who were looking forward to that meeting, don’t despair.
In the meantime, this week’s meeting will focus on the hot button topic of Healthcare Reform. There will be no speaker and we hope you all come with plenty to say on the subject. Topics we will touch on include but are certainly not limited to the proposed “public option,” the various political strategies involved for both sides of the debate, funding options, the proposed mandate for all Americans to have health insurance, and the proposed regulation of the private insurance market.
I know that all might sound a bit overwhelming, but have no fear. The discussion will go as fast or as slow and in whichever direction you all desire. As usual, our debate will be lively and varied with just the right amount of fervent chaos thrown in there. I’m looking forward to it. Hope to see many of you there.
For those interested in applying for a committee position, please fill out our Committee Application form. Email the completed form and your resume to Neil Chatterjee at dchatt2@illinois.edu by 11:59 PM on Friday, September 18th. No late applications will be accepted.
The first meeting of the year will be held this Wednesday, September 2nd at 7:00 in 114 David Kinley Hall. For those of you that don’t know, DKH is the building just West of the South Quad and 114 is the large lecture hall right in the middle of the building.
The first meeting should be fairly brief and we ought to get out of there in an hour or so. We’ll introduce this year’s executive board and our plans for the year, spend some time getting to know each other, and of course take a minute or two to talk some politics. We will have membership forms for everyone to fill out and if you bring $15 and pay your dues, we just might have some left over T-shirts from last year as an added bonus…
So, if you’re as excited about PSC as we are (or at least mildly curious), come on out on Wednesday.
